AIMP

There is much to like about AIMP. You will like that it provides support for a long list of audio formats, that it has a user friendly interface that supports skins, that you can use hotkeys to be more efficient, that it features an audio editor, that it is offered for the great price of free, and much, much more. As of December 2013, support for Winamp ended. If you’re looking for a properly good replacement, you’re very well advised to go get AIMP.

Speaking about getting AIMP, the application’s installer is little over 7MB in size; downloading this file won’t take long, especially if you’re on a high-speed internet connection. Run the aforementioned installer and you will be presented with a setup wizard that will guide you through the installation process. It must be mentioned that the wizard will have you choose between a normal and a portable installation.

Three interface elements will be displayed when you’re done with the installation and you run AIMP for the first time: a central panel that features the playback controls, a playlist panel, and an equalizer panel. The last two panels, the playlist and the equalizer, can be hidden out of sight. The main panel can be docked to the left or right hand side of the screen; or you can let it undocked and place it anywhere you want on the screen.
The interface provides support for multiple languages and it provides support for skins. If you want to create custom, personalized skins for AIM, there’s a free skin editor that you can use.
